Approach

Seeking out counselling services can be daunting for some, but congratulations you're halfway there! I work together with adult and adolescent therapy clients to develop a clear understanding of your situation, building agreement on the core tasks of therapy that lead to meaningful changes and transformation. I utilize my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Acceptance And Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other integrative therapies to address a diverse range of presenting concerns, including stress disorders, anxiety, depression, issues relating to chronic illness, pain, trauma, LGBTQ2S+ issues, personality difficulties, and more. The foundation of our relationship will be our focus on establishing and maintaining a strong working-alliance rooted in empathy and trust. You can be assured that I come from a nonjudgmental standpoint and that you have entered a safe space where mutual respect is guaranteed.

I choose to focus on people's strengths and at the same identifying unhelpful patterns. It is important to note that I embrace using a holistic mind-body approach. I believe that building resilience, mastery, and self confidence are key to one's success. Our attitude is responsible for 95% of our achievement. I assist people with developing goals, and making decisions, as well as living as the person that they wish to become. All human beings need goals to provide them with purpose and to keep them involved with community. I believe that these are crucial elements to one becoming successful and having the best possible mental health.

As an assessor I provide testing and evaluation for adolescents, and adults in terms of emotional health, personality development, to provide a baseline at the beginning of therapy and to check for improvement along the way, but not for diagnostic services.

I am a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP) and the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP). I am also a member of The Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (CACBT). I am currently enrolled in Complex Trauma Certification Training Level 1 & 2 (CCTP/CCTP-II), and also regularly attend conferences and trainings so I can offer my clients the best "tools to master their minds!"

Please feel free to contact me for a complementary half-hour telephone session, so that you can decide if I'm the right therapist for you before we commit to treatment! I look forward to meeting you!
